I would not say the same as everyone else personally. I have not had any issues once I have got my connected (with no support from Rachio). I do not know any of the numbers, but obviously people report issues here and I believe all those that have no issues do not say much. I think it is too bad if you do not log into this community as sometimes Rachio will reach out to you to get things working.
I have sent a PM with a followup
Hello, i have the same issue. update fails on ios. ive reset, rebooted, done everything in the thread. This is with an older hub and newer hub so it looks like it’s a known issue not just a hardware problem. Please help!
I will have our customer success team reach out to you. Thank you for your patience.
I am having the same issue. In fact, I have been having it for a year. Wasn’t a big deal until now. I need to add another valve and I can’t because of the firmware being out of date. Please help.
I’m having the same issue, firmware not updating. I’ve tried 10+ times, changed wifi to 2.4, nothing is working
Hi I’m having the same issue updating my hose hub with the failed update loop in the iOS app can someone take a look?
Same problem with the firmware update on the hose valve hub. Was working fine for a year until the update was released and then the update froze and the hub was no longer accessible, but controlled the valves with prior settings. Now eight months later I purchased a new hub (Amazon) that, upon install, required a firmware update to use (!), and installation failed because the update cannot be completed. Exact problem I had before and the exact problem repeated by other customers here for over a year.
I also have an installed Rachio multi-zone piped lawn irrigation system that has been working fine over the same period of time, same wifi and router setup.
I have same issue can you help
Hi there, I’m having the same issue with my hose hub, firmware update is stuck in a loop and won’t complete. Please help, thanks!
I’m also having this issue. I did talk to support they mentioned it might be my hub. But I still can control the valves without the firm ware update. I would like to fix it though if anyone has insight.
@Mearpond I am going to have our customer success team reach out to you and resolve this.
Thank you for your patience!

I am trying to set up a new hub and its been about an hour of trial and error on the firmware update…. Wifi connections seems fine but firmware fails over and over after ensuring the correct wifi/settings. Can I get some help?
Hi Franz,
I received my hub and hose timer today and currently facing the same issue as I send this message. The firmware update keeps failing. I have tried multiple times unplugging and then plugging back in but no luck. Appreciate your help with this.
Thanks
Hi, I’m reaching out because I’m having a persistent issue with my Rachio Smart Hose Timer system.
I’m unable to complete the firmware update for the hub—it consistently gets stuck near the end (around 90–99%) and eventually fails with a recovery prompt. I’ve gone through that recovery process multiple times, but the result is always the same.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
-
Attempted the firmware update 20+ times
-
Completed the unplug/recovery process more than 10 times
-
Power cycled the hub and reset it
-
Reconnected the hub to Wi-Fi from scratch
-
Ensured everything is on a 2.4 GHz network
-
Split my Wi-Fi into separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks
-
Verified strong signal and kept the hub close to the router
-
Logged out/in of the app and confirmed it’s up to date
-
Tried updating over a completely different network (mobile hotspot)
Despite all of this, the firmware update still fails in the same way every time. The hub shows a solid green light, so it seems to be connected properly.
Also, I’m seeing similar issues with the valve, which makes me think this might not be a simple network issue.
At this point, it seems like either a firmware problem or a hardware issue.
I have the same issue, and I tried with 2.4 GHz as well. I just purchased it last week
