First post. Just ordered the 16-zone version of the Rachio IRO. I’m switching from another ‘connected’ irrigation controller than I’m not satisfied with. I have a question about the IRO power adapter. How long is the power cord?
My current irrigation controller is about 15 feet away from the nearest electrical outlet. This is in my garage. As such, I need a power supply with a long cable. Will the Rachio power adapter reach this far? If not, what do you recommend?
Here are some options I was thinking of:
Re-use existing transformer (Hunter 526500, 24VAC, 1000ma rating), since the existing power-supply cord is long enough. Is this transformer compatible with Iro? Here are the full specs here: http://www.evergreensprinklers.com/hunter-526500-replacement_part-for_pc-300i-transformer.html
Lengthen cord on Rachio power adapter by splicing in wire (this way I use the Rachio supplied tranfromer & plug).
Run extension cord from existing outlet so I can plug in power-adapter closer to controller. (I don’t like this because it looks ugliest)
Purchase another power adapter with a longer cord (do you sell such a thing, or recommend a 3rd party one)? I’m thinking I would just do #2 option over this option, though.
Let me know what you think! I’m guessing I’m not the only one in this predicament.
