Set up Fixed schedule, daily drip watering (new landscaping), one time per day starting at 11pm, ending about 1:30am. On the Event screen, the rectangular boxes at the top of the screen for each day sometimes show the number 2 at the bottom of the box, just below the blue symbol for a scheduled water event. I cannot figure out why that “2” pops up.
As I was writing this the app says a Rain Skip will be in effect for today due to expected >3/4" of rain this evening. So now the Today rectangle shows an orange symbol with a slash (cancel) AND a blue symbol. I would think all watering would be skipped. NOTE: I do not have any additional schedules the remainder of this week as I need to create a new schedule tomorrow.
Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing? I’m having trouble following your written description, but I think I understand…
Typically, if you have a 2 under a colored water drop means that you have 2 runs watering in the same day. You can click on them to see what that is.
My hunch is that because they overlap into the next day, and you are watering daily (I’d also watch this closely. Even for new landscaping, that is very frequent) it is seeing the front and back side of that run on the calendar.
As for the orange and blue…because of the watering today, it is cancelling todays run (orange dot), but DID have the tail end of last nights run (blue dot).
You understand precisely. Your response corresponds with what I’d concluded. If I drill down on the day with the “2” on it, it shows “Watered” and “Watering”. Since I was starting at 11pm for a total of 2.5 hours, the scheduled watering goes into the following day. The “2” makes sense in that scenario. One would think Rachio would put a date on the “Watered” section or some designation to indicate it was part of the previous day’s schedule. Consumers like myself are easily confused…
Troy,
I have encountered differences between what scheduling is shown on my smartphone app and the computer schedule. The smartphone app mysteriously added a water day for 11/07, the computer does not show that. Smartphone app showed yesterday (11/07) as 11/08. Yesterday I chatted with customer support but somehow got dropped. I requested a ticket but have no clue whether that went through. How do I get in touch with customer support by phone to resolve the multiple discrepancies I am experiencing with the Rachio system? I am quite concerned I am wasting water and not properly following the schedule the landscaper recommended for a recent (expensive) landscaping re-vamp.
If by “computer” you mean the website? I wouldn’t spend much time worrying about differences between the app and the website. The website works to make changes to your zones and schedules, but the calendar is a known “bug” on the website. Rachio has made it clear that they are not continuing efforts into the website (unless something has changed @franz?), and only focusing on the app.
So, the website has a calendar bug and Rachio is not putting sufficient resources into making the smartphone app work properly or integrate with the website. I trust you understand a consumer’s difficulty in “rest(ing) assured”.
My take on your response is to use the website but not the app. Please confirm this.
Going forward I won’t use the smartphone app, just the computer website. It dawns on me Rachio should NOT be promoting a smartphone app that doesn’t appear to work properly. The landscaper who installed Rachio had me set up schedules on the smartphone app, didn’t tell me there was a website.
I may be back if/when I run into problems creating schedules on the website.
Troy, You’ll love this…After responding to your Post this morning…on my computer I go to app.rach.io, sign in, try to set up a new schedule, click on Fixed schedule, get a completely blank screen.
No, use the phone app. Rachio isn’t putting any resources into maintaining the website portion. As for the rest assured, it was in reference that the system was in fact running when it should, regardless of what the calendar dates showed.
Not sure man, I don’t work for Rachio, just another user like you with over 8 years of Rachio experience under my belt. But, stick with the phone app and you should be fine.
I certainly appreciate your experienced input. Now I’m baffled. When I chatted with Rachio support yesterday they were working off the website. The app is what appears to be botched up: yesterday it showed the date as 11/08, not the correct 11/07. It mysteriously added a watering date a couple days after I put in a Fixed schedule to water every other day. Then added that “2” under the blue water symbol.
After my daughter taught me how to put a screenshot on a Reply email….
This shows the Events/Past tab. It shows the system ran last night; it was NOT supposed to run. I went to the Control box after 9:30pm (scheduled start time with 150 minutes on the schedule so it should stop at 12am) and it was NOT running a program, the blue stream light was moving. That it didn’t run is a good thing. But the app shows it ran last night.
I only have a masters degree, but if you have it set to end at 12am, that makes it the start of the next calendar date. I think you are still seeing the effects of your original question of the 2 dots.
You say it was not supposed to run last night, but it is scheduled to. The schedule is starting at what 9:30pm, and ending at 12:00am. That means it started at 9:30 on 11/7, and stopped at 12:00am on 11/8. TECHNICALLY it ran on the 8th, however, only for a few seconds. You said you have it running every 2 days, so I’m guessing you have a water drop on Sunday and Monday with similar watering behavior.
