Weather adjust premium feature

Wondering peoples initial opinion on this? I’m actually surprised it’s a premium feature we have to buy and not just added into the software free for users ……:person_shrugging: this must be the way forward now, selling premium features.

Anyways my Midwest folks are you excited for this or no. Curious how beneficial/cost effective at $30 it is for a flex daily schedule.

Sad to see this as a paid feature when I opened the app for the first time this season.

I will not be paying for it or the valve monitoring.

Another reason to look into an open source diy alternative.

I was really surprised as well. I had always thought this was supposed to be part of the package when I first bought my controller years ago. I think there needs to be a good explanation for this. If they can explain the difference between what we already have vs what this is then perhaps I could buy in to a one-time purchase. However, at this rate they might as well just charge us a subscription like everybody else rather than trying to come up with all these other revenue sources. I hate seeing all their latest lawn-watering adjacent products. Stop trying to be everything to everybody. Do what you do and do it well. Don’t try to be a McDonald’s with the latest pseudo-trendy products.

I haven’t messed with it, but my guess is that it is geared more toward fixed schedules. Flex Daily, and to a lesser degree, Flex Monthly schedules have this type of feature built into the schedules. IMHO, this feature just allows fixed schedule users the ability to automatically adjust a bit for heat waves.

I found the following page which does talk in the FAQs section about how this feature affects fixed, flex monthly, and flex daily schedules: Weather Adjust

These are the things that will stop me from recommending Rachio to family and friends. This is just confusing for most people that just think it’s just suppose to work.

I use Flex Daily exclusively. It automatically adjusts based on both rainfall, as well as temperature and humidity. To say that an additional amount of water needs to be added is like saying the program’s calculations are wrong. I think they’re right, so see no need for it.

I just want to double check. I’ve looked into it and from what I can tell it’s $29 per controller. Since it doesn’t say per month or per year, I assume it’s per controller per person. It’s not just for the lifetime of the controller because apparently if you replace the controller the purchase can be transferred to the new one. Am I reading this correctly?

Here in Phoenix it gets really hot and so getting the ability for them to adjust to heat waves or cooler weather every 6 hours seems pretty useful. It’s hard to predict the future about this seems it could be $29 per person for a lifetime. In that respect it seems like a great deal to me.

Also, as far as I can tell they didn’t remove anything from our current controllers, correct?

From the page that I included a link above, it says

For a one-time purchase of $29.99 per controller

So, that would answer it is not a per month or per year. It is just per controller. I would GUESS that if it gets replace Rachio would transfer it, but I could be wrong.
