Sprinklers and overspray

Hi!

I’m wondering what people would do in this situation.

I have pop-up sprinklers that were installed right next to my driveway (as in the edge of the round disk around the sprinkler head is touching the concrete of the driveway). The driveway has a gentle downslope to the street, and a very slight curve to it. The sprinklers are, of course, 180 degrees. This means that there is always a very small amount that is spraying onto the driveway. It seems like I need something like a 175 degree angle to get along the edge without hitting the driveway.

So… do I switch out to some of those heads with the adjustable pattern, or just leave well enough alone and accept the overspray?

Almost impossible to completely eliminate 100% of the overspray onto hardscapes.

If you really want to try, you could go with a variable arc nozzle. I AM NOT a fan of the variable spray heads, and I an openly huge fan of the Hunter MP Rotators. They could possibly solve your issue since the are easily adjustable from 90-270, but the best thing about them is the PR doesn’t change like it would with variable spray nozzles.

If they had installed them like 6 inches in, it would be fine! But no, these are right against the edge.

I’ve had irrigation installers say they want to water a foot or more of the sidewalks and driveways. To help insure in a wind, all the grass is still watered, and because the concrete can absorb water from the neighboring ground, so this helps prevent that.

Of course, they might have just been lazy. Either way, I certainly wouldn’t worry about your small amount of overlap.
