Smart timer leaks with long faucet threads

My smart hose timer leaks when connected to wider thread. Directly to a simple thin faucet thread works fine. It leaks from both side of the connection to the faucet or connector

any clue how to make this work?

Yeah. Plastic (leak), Brass (no leak). Hmmm. If you don’t need quick-connect, connect hose directly with a good washer and avoid it.
