Shielded cable drain wire?

Waiting for UPS to get my EveryDrop 1004-EX delivered and I have my signal cable run from where the flow meter will be to the new Rachio, but not hooked up yet.
The cable I ended up getting is way overkill, but it is what I could get easily and economically.
What I have running is direct burial rated with 2 pair of 16 gauge wires, each pair is individually shielded with a drain wire and then both pair are also shielded with a drain wire :joy:
I understand from this topic that the drain wire(s) should be grounded, but also that the Rachio is not grounded, nor is there a ā€œgroundā€ connection where the flow meter is (besides the actual ā€œgroundā€ that it is dug into.)
Reading elsewhere, It seems that the shield(s) should only be grounded at one end.
This cable is not running close to the valve controlling cable, but it does run beside the main breaker panel of the house, which would be the only thing that might provide noise?
Can anyone give me a definitive answer on what (if anything in this case) I should be doing with these drain wires?

I’ve run my 1004-EX with the drain wire not connected to the Rachio (which itself doesn’t assure an ā€œearthā€ ground anyway). I spent some time long ago trying to convince myself it belonged on COMMON or maybe somewhere else, but some of the denizens of this group with far more skill with electricity than I suggested leaving it disconnected. It’s worked for several years that way.

Thanks @JBTexas. Just in case it might help, I knocked a 4 foot steel rod into the soil inside the flow meter valve box and tied the 3 drain wires to that - figured it couldn’t hurt. I ran flow calibration last night and it seem to work like a charm! Fingers crossed.
