App is confusing when it comes to setting watering schedules and understanding when watering has occurred when a schedule starts late at night before midnight and ends before sunrise.
Landscapers will tell you that during the summer, it is best to keep your grass long and give a deep soaking for 45-50 minutes once a week, rather than shorter intervals every day or every 2nd day. A much more efficient use of water.
When you have multiple grass zones across 1/3 - 1/2 acre or more (like the 7 zones I have), that results in a watering schedule running 6 hours.
So for that to be completed by sunrise (ideal), it has to be started before midnight. So that means I usually start the watering Mon evening around 11 pm and end before 5 am.
App is not clear (and I had to figure out) that that means it’s on my calendar for every Tues, not Mon.
With my previous manual Hunter system, if I wanted to have it water Monday night, I selected Monday, start time 11 pm, and that was it.
With Rachio, I have to futz around with it and test and see that it watered this morning (Tues morning) but shows it started at 11:30 pm. I guess what it really means is it started 11:30 pm on MONDAY (bu app does not label it that way).
It should, so it is CLEAR.
If I view my calendar and see a water droplet today (Tues), it should say under that “am”. And then when I click on it and it shows all the zones run and when it started, it should say “Start time: 11:30 pm MON”
Need to fix app so it clearly shows on the calendar (for example) watering started Monday night and ended Tuesday morning and on the session details show the start day (am, pm) and the end day (am, pm). Calendar format and session details need to be changed so it clearly shows that and also when selecting days to water - needs to show a note to user how you’re defining the day (not by the start time but by the end time), or that if want to water Tues morning ending by sunrise, select Tues. and if they want to water starting Mon night and it will go over to the next day, select Tues.
