Running full time spigot on sprinkler system.

For the last 25;year, have had two spigots run from sprinkler side system to garden back of home Master valve is in front near diverter system from city water and inside water. Live in south Texas(San Antonio). Have Rachio Controller 8 zones. Installed a Flume and noted a small leak. Had sprinkler man check it out. He shut down Master valve to only open when the sprinkler system is active which, of course, stopped continuous spigot water availability unless a zone is on also.
Question: would setting up a 12 zone Rachio controller and leave a phantom zone on continuously solve the problem. Noted that if Master valve was turned on (the solenoid on to open all the time which would mean the sprinkler lines would be full in the winter time and at risk of freezing weather occurred like in 2020) , would that work? Using a Rachio controller, I imagine, could be controlled to shut off and drain all systems during those rare occasions. Have had this system of piping since 1978 without any real problems over that time with the spigots never busted.
