Rain skip feature isn't designed correctly

On the weather skip FAQ page it says this: “Weather Intelligence checks the forecast 12 hours before, and again 1 hour before your schedule is set to run; tracking the amount of observed and forecasted rain in a sliding 48-hour window. This means it’s looking at any observed rain in the last 24 hours, plus any forecasted rain in the next 24 hours. If the combined rainfall exceeds your device’s skip threshold, the scheduled run will skip.”

That’s all well and good, but most lawns only need about 1" of rain in a given week. If I got 1" of rain on Monday, and my schedule isn’t supposed to run again until Thursday (I’ve set a fixed schedule because the “intelligent” option was never correct for my yard.), then it will run on Thursday based on the 48-hour window, ignoring I had 1" of rain 3 day prior (assuming no forecasted rain is to come). It seems to me that the 48-hour window needs to be more like 5 days. I guess one can argue you can’t get too much rain, but that’s not true either because certain grasses are more susceptible to fungal growth if too wet and hot.

You make assumptions based on your specific area and watering needs.

Here in Arizona, while extremely rare that we see 1" of rain from a single storm, assuming we did, I would need mine to run in about 48 hours because we have 110+ heat this week.

We aren’t all living in the desert. I use a water retention agent and my lawn program is set to end by sunrise. That works pretty well even under high heat conditions.

I had also thought about this question the other day when my system turned on after a heavy rain. I think the skip algorithm in the app needs to be fine-tuned to consider not just the forecast in the 48-hour window but also the scheduled interval set by users.
