I will have to read this later, not on my phone. In the meantime, running manual should not short anything out. Is there a small bleeder valve on the valve? Which brand and series of valve are they?
Just to make sure that I understood your last two bullet points:
- The drip system on 10 does not work even when swapped with 8? (That, by the way is a great way to test that I forgot to add, so will do that.)
- Zone 8 & 10 both have a good voltage, around 24VAC?
If so, that does seem like something with wiring or solenoid. I definitely would check your connections at both ends, especially the valve end. Make sure the wires are clean and you are using waterproof nuts. It is possible that they happened to work loose during the process. I would start with the drip before moving to the front yard.
