Rachio 3 Randomly Goes offline, won't restart, no lights

I have been using a Rachio 3 for my new home for under a month. The system works great until it doesn’t… this is the second time that our system has simply disconnected without power. Unplugging the system does nothing to restore power. the outlet is GFI 120V and is able to power up a cell phone charger. the first time this happened, we thought we heard a loud bang and our landscaper replaced the unit. I’m starting to believe that something is shorting the system? This morning was the second time this occurred and checking the history on the app, it may have occurred just as the morning cycle was finishing. I was not home so I can’t be sure.

Is it possible that the system was wired improperly? Is there any reason why this would occur? any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks in advance!

@joesacc did you have to replace the controller the first time power went out? We experienced something similar this morning… controller died at end of cycle… but ours is 2 years old

We did replace the controller the first time. This time we replaced the plug / transformer that actually did the trick. Now I’m wondering what caused the plug to go bad? Our system is outdoors and we have the outdoor case but the plug wire is partially exposed…
