Hopefully your Rachio 3 will add to HomeKit when Franz (the Man) gives us the • Go-Ahead

Just power cycled my Rachio running 632 and allowed me to add it to HomeKit immediately! Finally!
HomeKit router is pretty new- if you use the old school way of adding Rachio then you’ll know where the problem is. Maybe that flag for HomeKit isn’t set yet on your controller. I don’t know if a HomeKit device needs to support Router or what. I recently added my ecobee- set to automatic.
Look at Franz’ post above

I unfortunately don’t seem to be as lucky. I have 632, and I just tried rebooting with no success (still can’t re-add to HomeKit). I even tried disabling my 5GHz network (Apple TimeCapsule) and made sure everything was on the 2.4GHz (AppleTV & iPhone 8). Rebooted a couple times now and tried pairing several times after each reboot.
Hey Franz
Thanks for all the work on this so glad to have HomeKit working again. One not on the HomeKit router stuff. Though not a requirement it sure would be nice if Rachio was set up to support the HomeKit router this would limit the devices that the Rachio can connect to and that can connect to it to the HomeKit hub and the Rachio servers to improve security.
Just restarted mine and added through the homekit app I never do the process through the eero app it added fine. And shows up as a homekit hub also.
Any word Franz?
Although If I fix this, I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself while staying safe at home… I’m a compromised old man.
I guess I could watch Rachio water my grass…
Dunno. He left us hanging ?
I reboot my controller just as @franz - suggest on the above post and I can confirm I was able to add my controller back to HomeKit I’m using apple time capsule and and airport express - AirPort Extreme throughout the house hopefully FW 632 will stay solid
I just noticed there was a update for the Rachio iOS app…
Without these “flags” pushed to our controllers that Franz was talking about, I think that those (like myself) that went back to v615 are going to still have problems
Yes there was an update today that’s why I hold off not going back to 615 even though it works hoping Rachio will fix everything on their end and HomeKit will work as advertised
From Franz’s comments I suspect those flags are in the database on their servers and every time the Rachio boots up it checks in with the server for updated flags, so I think we‘ll be fine
New iOS app and controller reboot, no home kit yet. Must still be pushing through the fix
Ok, the patch is out, so controllers with 615 and earlier once their firmware is updated they will get the feature flags. A power cycle will still be necessary after the firmware update for the flags to take affect.
If you don’t have an iPhone Pro 11 or Samsung S20 the new(er) firmware is not necessary to have. Even then, it’s only needed for initial controller provisioning to the internet.
I just tried for the second time today to reboot my controller and then attempt to add to HomeKit. I was never on 631, my controller was stuck somehow on 615 for awhile, plus I’m using HomeKit Secure Router with my eero. So somewhere there’s still an issue here for me. I’m ready to remove my controller and re-add it back hoping it will go right into HomeKit, but I have really dialed in my zones in a tricky climate, and I’m not yet willing to reset all those.
Those who have 632, we suppose to power cycle then add HomeKit?
Yes. Power cycle then add
Mine worked. Thanks Rachio!
You may close my thread Hahaha
(As soon as everyone is working)
Macsterguy out…
I was on 615 this morning, after completely reset and removed from my app… i could see Rachio in my HomeKit during setup, but it would just spin and eventually give up and said “Couldn’t be added, Dismiss”
Reset it again this afternoon, still no go… it wouldn’t even show up in Home.app
Noticed my Rachio got the 632 firmware, power cycled, still nothing… doesn’t even show up in Home app when adding. I guess it’s reset time again? I’m not going to setup my zones until all this is working
Reset mine. Added to HK fine. Re-setup my zones and yard layout… setup watering schedule, etc. Then… uuugh “Not Responding again”. Added a switch so I can remote restart it… it comes back with each reboot, but as soon as I initiate a zone to water manually from HK… “Not Responding again…
Reboot, Repeat… “Not responding” again… So close…
