First, I’m very impressed by the engineering of the smart hose timer. I had no idea there was effectively a breakaway at the top of the device. At least it appears that way. Unless it’s just so the inlet can spin to facilitate tightening the timer on the water spout.
The less ideal part is that if the smart hose timer gets pulled off, the water will be on and has potential to flood the area.
My suggestion is, consider moving this feature to the bottom of the device. So if something rips the hose off at least the water is still controlled by the timer and doesn’t flood the area continuously (only if it’s turned on).
In my case, the mayhem was caused by my robot mower. In the pictures you can see the mower about to eat the hose and in the second it has ripped the smart hose timer off and is dragging it away. The red circle is the smart hose timer.
I’m mostly sharing for your entertainment. But maybe a product improvement comes out of it down the road.
