I normally setup a watering schedule of Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s. When I review the watering schedule in upcoming runs. It only shows a watering once a week. I did a test and tried to setup a schedule with watering every day and I get the same results showing only one day a week for watering. ( I disabled weather intelligence items )
Any ideas what I am doing wrong with the setup?
What kind of schedule do you set up? Fixed? Flex Monthly? Flex Daily? Can you show us a screenshot of that configuration? They can all be set up to run only on particular days of the week, but they all have different interpretations of whether they should.
Thank you for responding. Please see attached photos.
This looks about right for a Flex Daily schedule, with watering any day it needs it. It’s scheduled your “Normal Schedule” for Friday, May 29, to begin at 3:44 AM, for 1 hour, 9 minutes, to end before sunrise, which may be what should happen. It will review that proposed schedule an hour before it starts to determine if it needs any revision. I have no idea what you’re irrigating, but the 4 zones if they’re a lawn, might need water only on one day per week under your conditions. You can tap the downward pointing chevron on your second screenshot to see more details about what it planned. You’ve got smart soaking turned on, so it looks like only about a third of the schedule time is devoted to active watering. Your data here looks reasonable for a place without a dire need for a fill-up. What are we missing? The Rachio way is water thoroughly, rarely. Lots of info online and here in this forum for lots of situations. Once you’ve got it tuned up, you can simply forget about it - and buy less water.
Hi JB
To me its not working right. No matter what schedule I give it for watering, my system only schedules 1 day a week. To test I turned off the rain, wind and frost and saturation settings and there is no changes to the one day watering. I also changed the setting to water every day but the system does not change and keeps the 1 day watering. The weather here is very dry and the rachio system doesn’t seem to adjust like it used too.
I’m assuming the flex watering is based off of the water intelligence.
What are you using for a weather reference? (Settings, Weather Source) Best is a Tempest, but 2nd best is a solid 24/7 local weather station near you. If you’ve specified a weather station, connect directly to it via Weather Underground and look at its recent history. If it indicates lots of rain, and you’ve had none, something is amiss. Select another station or the Weather Network setting.
Your zones have “capacity” for water, which Rachio will manage so the root depth of your plants is sufficient. You can look at each of your 4 zones to see its Soil Moisture percentage which when tapped shows you a graph of the depletion and filling of the zone’s profile. You’ll see water coming in (from irrigation or nature) and out (Evaporation, transpiration). Goal, of course, is to keep everything growing and working for water so your irrigation is minimized and your plants are tough enough to handle the swings. You don’t have to assume how it works… there’s lots of online help on this site for all the setup you might need to do. Rare that either that or this forum or you can’t figure it out.
