Planning to use Rachio for drip with Fixed Scheduling

I’m planning to use the Rachio 3 for drip with Fixed Schedules. I don’t want or need any of the “smart” features, except for “rain skip” and “freeze skip” which I do plan to use.

I want Rachio for it’s scheduling capabilities, because I want to set a different schedule for each of the 12 months. For example, I might set January for 1 day per month, February for 2 days per month, March for 3 days per month, etc. Each schedule will have a different start and end date. I have not found any other controller that could do this without switching schedules. I want the whole year to run without my intervention, unless I decide to change the schedule.

I plan to use the same duration for every day it runs. I’ll set the water amount by selecting the appropriate dripper for the plants. For example, I might select a 1GPH dripper for a shrub and 2 GPH for a flowering plant.

Questions:

  1. I have 3 zones, each of which will have 12 schedules (one schedule for each month). That’s a total of 36 schedules. Can the Rachio 3 do that?
  2. What is the maximum number of schedules the Rachio 3 can store?
  3. Am I crazy?

Look here I’m replying to my own thread before anyone else!

I just wanted to say that I think it’s odd that the Rachio is the only controller that could do the type of scheduling that I want to do.
