The minimum knockout size for the outdoor enclosure controller wiring entrance is for a 3/4" conduit. My old controller used a 1/2" KO and that is typical for all the irrigation controllers in my neighborhood. A better choice would be to make the KO go from 1/2" to 1" conduit size.
I know that you can get KO reducers and that is what I will do on my enclosure.
