Upgrading from an old Rainbird that worked. None of the zones will active with the Rachio. I’ve gone through Rachio’s AI chat line and tested voltage, ohms, and manually turning on valves and everything’s reading as it should. Am I missing something?
@sobass by chance is there a rain sensor wired in-line on the common wire? Many old systems did that and if the rain sensor it tripped, none of the zones will activate.
Welcome to the community.
Thanks for the reply—I don’t believe that there is a rain sensor wired in. There was a jumper installed between the sensors on the old Rain Bird, however. Would it make sense to do the same on the Rachio?
@sobass do not jumper between the Rachio sensor ports, Rachio works differently than Rain Bird.
The rain sensor would be out in the yard somewhere before the first valve. Could be mounted on a fence or the eaves, etc.
So you went to a valve and manually turned it on (opened the bleed screw, or twisted the solenoid a quarter of turn) and water is coming out of that zone - correct?
When was the last time the Rain Bird system was run?
No trenching or digging in the yard since the Rain Bird system was run?
It works!
I had to active “Well or Pump Start Relay”.
Thank you!
That seems odd as it does not look like you have anything wired in for a master valve / pump on either the old system or the new.
Agreed, that’s what I thought too.
Happy to have it going, though, and enjoyed setting up the zones and mapping my yard.
