Gen 2 fails to shut down after logging finished

Last night my Gen 2 controller ran a normal routine and logged completion at 0238 hrs this AM. At 0900 hrs I received word that my Zone 1 was STILL watering, which I confirmed. I tried several steps to shut off the water using the Rachio.

  1. Looked for “STOP WATERING” function - there is none. We could use one! :exploding_head:
  2. Stand-by Mode did not stop the flow to the zone
  3. Power-failing did not stop water to the zone (I was guessing it may need a positive|power-on for the valve to stay open)
  4. CLOSED THE MAIN SPRINKLER SYSTEM VALVE to stop water :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Additional info: Yesterday (5/10/20) I updated the iOS app. I see there may have been a FW update pushed.

I was also rather startled to discover we no longer have a means for telephone contact, nor live chat in emergencies.

@Franz ?

Solenoid valves (that are working properly) require power to stay open. Even if your controller had a hardware defect, removing power should stop the flow. I’m guessing that the diaphragm in the valve stuck, probably caused by dirt.

So when you call 1 844 4 RACHIO (1 844 472 2446) what do you hear? Works fine from here.

Yep, you’ve got a valve malfunctioning. Possible dirt/debris in the diaphragm, or a tear/hole in it.

“Stop watering” function wouldn’t have helped you in this case.

Thanks, I’ll log the number. I couldn’t find it in my very hurried search.

Hadn’t occurred to me. All I could see in my mind at that point was dollar bills flowing down the gutter where a local Code Enforcement Officer was busy writing me a ticket.
