I need help figuring what to do with the wires my sunbird had in it. I got the system up and running and all the zones work. However, I can’t close the unit because the wires are really long, stiff, and there were a few extra ones that weren’t connected in the original control unit. This wasn’t really an issue in the previous unit since it was a much larger box. However, since the Rachio unit is more slim and held shut by a magnet, I find I can’t close the unit.
I attached some photos of how this looks. Again it is working, but looks pretty bad. This is in my garage so it isn’t exposed to weather. Any suggestions?
@mesa645 - train the wires into the spaces on the left and right of the pipe to use up the slack. Any wire that isn’t connected, stuff it back down the PVC pipe. You can also trim the length of the wires one at a time - be sure to leave enough slack to work with the wires if you choose this option.
Also, I can’t tell if the PVC pipe is protruding and interfering with the cover, if so, trim out some of the pipe.
I agree with @DLane, it looks like the PVC is protruding and interfering. I tend to wrap the wires around the insulation, but all look quite long like you said.
