I researched the best Ambient Weather Network for the past few days because I want to start tracking accurate weather conditions around my home. I read reviews on several websites and tech blogs, and they are marking these two as the best options:
However, I am still confused about which one would be better for my needs. I want real-time updates on temperature, humidity, wind speed, rainfall, and lightning alerts. I also want a station that connects smoothly to the Ambient Weather Network so I can monitor everything from my phone.If anyone has experience using either of these models or knows which one works best with the Ambient Weather Network, please share your advice. I have the Ambient Weather WS-2902C and it meets my needs. I have it connected to both the Ambient Weather network and the Weather Underground. From my phone or desktop, I can see the dashboard of all the collected information. I’m located just east of Tampa, FL.
I configured the Rachio 3 controller to just use my particular station, but it appears that the projected weather is still picked up. Is it configured correctly, can’t guarantee it. I also set the thresholds maybe too high. I have had my sprinklers go off when it had been raining and the 2902C said I’d received 1” of rain (Rachio set for 3/4”).
For the rain cup, I’ve experienced birds perched on the side and using the cup as their restroom. It caused the rain to stop recording (and this happened during hurricane a couple of years ago). I’ve since added better spikes and no more problems..
I mounted the weather station on a 10’ piece of conduit and attached it to the side of my pool cage. Ground to station is approximately 25’.
