I think he still has the master valve bleeder open.

Agreed, it seems that the master valve might be opened. Have you figured out that wire or just have the common & one zone wire at a time? It definitely sounds like water is getting through master AND zone 4 since those run always. Maybe the bleeder for master and something with the zone 4’s valve. With nothing connected and you turn the bleeder for 4, does it run? How about another such as 6?
