Smart hose timer internal flooding

We’ve really enjoyed and appreciated this product. Ended up buying four units to manage things, but now one of them has had water leak into the battery compartment, causing corrosion.

@franz can you have someone reach out?

@lindsejc

Thank you for your patience.

I have water oozing from the blue button on my smart hose timer, and it no longer works (despite changing out batteries). I bought it in 2023, so I assume it is no longer under warranty.

Is it possible to purchase another smart hose timer valve without the wifi hub (since I already have that)?

@franz, do you mind having someone reach out. I am having the same internal valve leak, I have checked the spigot and hose connections and they seem fine

Hello all. I just found this thread and I’m also experiencing the same issue. Is there a known solution to this? I have a lot of corrosion in my battery compartment and am worried the leads themselves won’t work even if I dry everything out.

@franz ?

@btrimboli I will have our CS team reach out to you!

Thank you for your patience. :cheers:

Welp.. It looks like I’m also suffering the leaky battery issue. Is there anything that can be done, or should I just buy a different device? Both of my units crapped out this year. :sob:

@franz , can we look into my issue as well? My timer valve has stopped connecting since my last message.

Looks like I have the same issue. Corroded inside and now I can’t even put battery and close. The metal Pin has come Out as well. Disappointed.

I have two units, one that is new this year, and another that is on it’s second season, they both have obvious corrosion inside the battery compartment. The older one has had it’s battery contact rust off entirely. Please advise.

Having the same leaking problem. Please reach out to solve. Thanks!

I have 7 timers and all have battery compartment issues. Please help.

Same issue here, batteries corroded on the bottom, new set failed right away too. What are people doing to prevent this cause we just got this. I see all the customer support messages but I didn’t see any details on a fix. Is there a gasket or something we can get

Yes

That’s definitely frustrating, especially if the other three are behaving normally in the same general setup. If only one unit is repeatedly getting water into the battery chamber while the others are fine, that does make a defect or seal issue seem more likely than user error.

A few things worth checking: make sure the battery door gasket is seated evenly, there’s no debris or nick in the seal, and the timer isn’t mounted in a way that lets water sit against the battery door or run directly into it during operation/rain. If everything looks normal, I’d contact Rachio support again and mention that multiple units from the same purchase group have had the same failure while your other timers have not. That batch detail may be useful.
