Zone 1 and 8 aren’t coming on. Pics of original wiring and new wiring below. In old wiring pics there was a red wire that wasn’t connected but I thought I knocked it loose and put it in zone 8 spot. Other than not doubling the white wires and that disconnected wire I put in zone 8, I labeled everything and matched the wiring. Zones 2-7 work fine in the Racchio, and ALL the zones worked immediately before installing Rachio (I switched because I could never get wifi to work on RainBird. I was told try to and swap the white wires. No difference. Then I put zone 1 wire into zone 2 and nothing. Tested zone 8 wire on 7 and nothing. Put everything back to the way it was (as in the new wiring photo) so I didn’t make things worse because I have chemo brain. It is run on a well. I have 2 valve boxes, one on one side of the building and one of the other. I don’t know if I have a master valve. No rain sensor to my knowledge. I am using plug that came with the Rachio. The RainBird controller was also plug in. I thought it was simply reverse engineering, but apparently I missed something. I checked other posts and saw similar issues but not exact. Any help would be appreciated.
@abuff - a few thoughts here. Confirming that zone 1 and zone 8 ran on the RainBird right before conversion to Rachio, if so then these aren’t dead wires.
Are both zone 1 and 8 in the same valve box?
If you have a multimeter take the white wires out of the Rachio and measure the resistivity down the zone 1 and zone 8 wire to each of the white wires. There should be some resistivity on each wire with one of the white wires.
There is no rain sensor connected to the RainBird, but there could be an in-line rain sensor on one of the common wires. Probably not, but look around on the eaves or fence near where the RainBird controller was installed to see if there is a rain sensor.
Welcome to the community. Hopefully something from the above questions will shed light on the issue.
