Rachio 1 suddenly going offline

Hello

Many years of trouble free watering with gen 1 controller.

The last couple weeks the controller has been going offline for no reason.

Nothing has changed. No new router, internet etc

Any ideas?

It could be just about anything.

  • Radio in you Rachio is starting to go bad
  • Board on you Rachio starting to go bad
  • Moisture in the Rachio shorting something
  • Wifi Router radio having issues
  • A neighbor getting a stronger WiFi signal and competing on the same channel
  • IP address interference
  • Metal too close to either the Rachio or router (Rake maybe?)
  • updated Firewall settings/firmware

If only your Rachio is having issues, you might just be on the last legs. I would:

  • Check for any metal around the Rachio and router that wasn’t there before
  • Update you router firmware
  • Update your Rachio firmware
  • Run an extension cord to the Rachio from a different circuit in case there is voltage issues
  • All else fails, but a unit somewhere you can return within 30 days and see if it fixes itself.

i hoped to get more than 6 years of use out of that thing …

i hear the R3 i plagued with problems … are there any other controllers out there that are good and reliable?

I’ve had one for just under a year and I haven’t had any issues with mine.
