Pump physical connection

So my old Hunter box has 4 punchouts and my system used 3x. 1) power cord 2) valve wires - conduit 3) pump relay wires - conduit. So electrically I understand where everything goes but mechanically, I don’t have any great solution for routing the pump wires/conduit into the Rachio weatherproof enclosure.

I see 3 options: 1) drill a 3/4" hold into the side of the box and connect my conduit like in the hunter 2) get a separate junction box to bring valve and pump wires together into single conduit and route up into the rachio box 3) just leave the pump conduit hanging by the wire and push them in around the valve conduit into the rachio enclosure and just caulk everything up to try to keep water out.

Has anyone else dealt with this and have a suggestion?

Your pump wires should be low voltage to an external relay, so no reason they can’t all pass through the same hole as the zone wires. Punching another hole into the box wouldn’t be an issue either. Just grab a conduit male adapter and nut from the big box store.

Yes - it is just a good mechanical way to do the former I haven’t quite figured out as I have to bring 2x conduits to 1. I hate to just leave one of them hanging there. I was hoping someone else found a creative way to solve this vs. drilling another hole…

What type of “conduit” do you have leading up to the old unit? More often than not, irrigation contractors will just use the same Sch40 pipe they used to plumb the irrigation system, so at that point, you could just use Sch40 fittings to “tee” the 2 lines together into one…

Or, you could do something like this…

something like that is I think the best solution w/o drilling more holes in my box. the pump relay wire is also a little short since unfortunately the M is all the way on the left side of the rachio controller and the relay is on the right… so I probably need to pigtail a little more wire so this little box would be perfect…now I just need to figure out how to connect the conduit…I just have a 1" pvc on the valve wires coming out of the ground and this liquid tight fixture coming from the pump relay…If I can fit the liquid tight fixture into this, it should work. Thanks for the suggestion - I didn’t see this when I was in in HD looking the other day.

That was the key was that t connector with a threaded female connector. Thanks

Turned out great! Nice job!

That T connector suggestion was the key - they don’t have them in stock at HD so I didn’t see them but did have them at lowes…Thanksfully, Cantex also makes a 3/4" straight to 1/2" female threaded connector which was exactly what I needed to connect the liquid tight connector that was on my pump relay wire…I’m assuming this is a pretty common setup so hopefully helps someone else as well.

thanks for your help.
