Hello. Lightning struck a nearby tree on my neighbor’s property and my Rachio 3rd generation stopped working. Won’t power on. Then I put in my old Rachio 2nd generation and then lightning stuck a tree on my property and now that one won’t power on. This is a picture of my 3rd generation. Is there anyway to fix it?
Wow, 2 controllers taken out by 2 different storms!? And nothing else in your home was affected? Very strange. With that kind of weather/luck, I think my next step would be a whole-house surge protector. (Sorry about your situation, and that I have no insight into your question.)
My well controller was taken out the first storm and my solar gate controller was fried both times. Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket 
We are having the electrician come put on a whole home surge protector….definitely don’t want another strike and have my air conditioner get fried in this heat!
Had 2 lighting hits in 5 years… the 2nd one last week, took out the Rachios both times…went to use the controller today and 2 of the zones get no power out of the controller… also have a whole house surge protector on the way. This storm as well as the other one took out more than the controller though. Any idea when the 16 zone controllers will be back in stock?
Sorry you got hit again — once is bad enough, twice is just brutal. When only a couple zones stop outputting power after a storm, it’s often damage on the zone output side of the controller, but it’s also worth checking the field wiring/solenoids for those zones since lightning can travel in from the valve wires too.
On the 16-zone stock timing, I don’t have a reliable date to give you from here. I’d suggest checking the Rachio store page and/or opening a support ticket so they can tell you the current availability options. And with multiple strike-related losses, the whole-house surge protector is a good move, though I’d still consider irrigation-specific surge protection/grounding if your valve wiring runs far from the house.
