I don’t understand a lot about this app. I would call it unintuitive or just incapable- but that is why I am here. I made my own schedule and the first thing I can’t figure out is how to pick ALL days. I have even day or odd days but I can’t change the schedule to be ALL.
The second item I can’t figure out is how to order the zones in that schedule? I should be able to pick a certain zone and put it in the order I would like them to start and finish? Is this something else I don’t know how to do?
Welcome to the neighborhood. What kind of schedule did you create? The settings for a Flex daily schedule allow you to select the zones in the schedule, not the order (more below). They also allow you to set a Watering Interval where you can check any or all of the 7 checkboxes for days of the week. (Schedules / Schedules group / tap 3 dots (options) / Edit schedule / Watering Interval)
Since Rachio is going to water each zone within a schedule according to its need within a period of time you’ve specified for irrigation, it might water no stations, just one, or all of them, as needed. The order wouldn’t seem to be important, as long as all the stations requiring water get it. In addition, Rachio can let a station on a slope “soak” while it runs another station, then come back to water the sloping station again to prevent runoff and wasting water.
Stick with it, ask questions here. The app is capable, and you’ll be so too.
I have no idea why you can’t order zones in a schedule. if this feature isn’t available its inferior. I don’t know how else to say it but to justify it, I have a dog. I would prefer the zones in the front are done soonest so that when the dog goes out in the morning its mostly dry? I am sure there are 100 other different reasons to want to be able to sort.
I don’t know what type of schedule I have, I don’t want rachio messing with the run times of each zone and I really don’t provide it with a ton of information for it to make an educated decision anyway. I would like to take my schedule and use it “on all days” not just evens and odds. If I have to change the schedule type I should be able to do that without having to replicate all the runtimes I have meticulously laid out in the “wrong” style schedule
I just think for as expensive and widley used as this device is, its interface wouldn’t be so immature.
You DID manage to create a schedule by selecting from the available types: Fixed, Flex Monthly, Grow-In, or Flex Daily. You chose Grow-In it seems, a special type of schedule for watering newly seeded areas, preserving new turf, or other continuous watering situations. It (as a grow-in schedule is designed for) doesn’t care about what days it waters - it waters continously at intervals, making sure not to overwater, until such a schedule is no longer needed. Then, you’d be expected to use (and perhaps learned about) using the Fixed, or Monthly and Daily Flex options, in which you DO specify what days you want to make available for watering, and the times of day appropriate to do so. Perhaps convenient for the dog. Perhaps for your convenience. And, perhaps convenient even when the municipality you reside in intervenes in your irrigation preferences.
I’m paying less than half as much for irrigation water as my neighbors because of my Rachio, so there’s that to look forward to. As always, YMMV. Good luck with your efforts!
I ditched my Rachio controller for a YoLink controller this year, glad I did. The YoLink controller isn’t prefect either, but easier to navigate IMHP. The downside is the YoLink controller only has six zones & you need to supply it with your own power supply (pertly easy to figure out).
Thank you! That is exactly what I wanted to know. completely unintuitive. I don’t know why there is a zones in schedule and a watering duration. Shouldn’t they just be one thing with 0 or just put them at the end or uncheck to disable?
Now I need to figure out how to pick specific days or all days?!
