Ice, Ice baby

Weather starting yesterday here in the Dallas area is a good illustration of Iro2’s freeze protection capabilities when in Flex Daily mode.

Yesterday’s temp dropped here below 45 degrees in the afternoon. I have an Iro2 Device Updates message saying so: “Rain sensor activated”. And an outside temperature logging chart confirming it: http://welserver.com/perl/plot/WEL0043/SampledOutsideWeather.png .

Today’s high was 39 degrees F (see http://www.welserver.com/WEL0043 ). So it never got above 45 degrees F programmed into my automation system connected to the Iro2’s SC and S1 terminals. And thus the Iro2 hasn’t come out of freeze protection yet.

Meanwhile moisture accumulation charts are being accurately maintained. The Iro2 knows it’s not watering at the moment and is showing so appropriately for each zone.

Tonight will be cold (below freezing), and the home automation system will keep the connection of Iro2’s S1 and SC terminals opened up. Since my Flex Daily schedule starts at 10:15 AM, my guess is it won’t be above 45 degrees F at this point, and thus tomorrow will be another ‘no water due to freeze protection’ day. Meanwhile moisture integration continues to be accurately maintained for each zone.

Cool!

Best regards,

Bill
