Braided Wire for Rain Sensor

I just installed the system yesterday to replace a Hunter panel and have all of the zones hooked up without issue. The rain sensor was run with wire that is braided instead of solid copper and I can’t get it to connect to the terminals. Does anyone know of a adapter or a trick to make this work? I don’t want to have to run new wire if it can be avoided so looking for other options.

My rain sensor wires are stranded instead of solid, too. I used a screwdriver tip to hold down the terminal button while I pushed in the wire. It got in far enough to make the connection. With my solid zone wires, I was able to just push them in without touching the buttons.
