The Orbit 21005 b-have valve selling for less than $50 would work fine if Rachio made a firmware rev to talk to them.
The valve you reference uses its own proprietary wireless system, and requires a hub to connect via wifi, making the possibility of future connection with Rachio pretty slim…
Like the Orbit valve, the wireless system used in the Gen3’s isn’t the same as your home wifi. Now, I would imagine that with some major changes in programing, Rachio could open things up and expand connects into the IoT world to accommodate things like the the B-Hyve valve you reference, but you are adding a lot more potential for problems from outside sources…
