Hi,
My existing setup has 0.5mm wire, or approximately 24 gauge. It’s only a short run from the controller to the solenoids of about 4 metres. Is this wire size sufficient or should I replace the wiring with 1mm or 18 gauge?
Thanks.

@efleming - the only question would be if the wire is stiff enough to insert into the Rachio (the older generations one pushed the wire in.
I believe normal sprinkler wire is 18 gauge. Over this short of a distance the issue isn’t the current carrying capacity, but insertion strength See this post →
If the 24 gauge wire is already buried, then I might create a short pigtail of the 18 gauge wire to connect to the Rachio and then transition with a water tight wire nut or terminal strip to the 24 gauge wire. See →
